DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA
Deerfield Beach is a community of just over 60,000 residents that lies along the Atlantic Ocean
shoreline, just 25 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. As part of Broward County, Deerfield Beach
began as a pineapple farming community in the early 1900s, and remained so until the late 1940s.
As the popularity of the Florida Atlantic Coast grew, so did the city of Deerfield Beach,
and today it is a thriving coastal town.
In the year 2000, Deerfield Beach received the Blue
Wave Award for one of the most pristine beaches in the state of Florida. Deerfield Beach
has a picturesque 920-foot fishing pier that is open to the public 24 hours per day, 365 days
per year. It also has some of the best parks in South Florida including Pioneer Park,
Constitution Park, Westside Park and Mayo Howard Park. All are beautifully maintained and
have boat ramps, tennis courts, walking trails and playgrounds for children.
The city of
Deerfield Beach holds weekly dances on the beach with live entertainment in the summer.
There are also several special events during the year, and other activities such as children's
lessons, activities and sports. More than fifty golf courses dot the area, and all types
of fishing is available, including deep-sea, drift boat and fishing off the pier.
